Purpose of the Discipline Policy at DYPDSS
Our Discipline Policy aims to establish a structured and purposeful environment where students can thrive academically and socially. By setting clear expectations for behavior, DYPDSS supports students in developing the self-discipline and accountability essential for lifelong success.
Student Code of Conduct: Expectations for Positive Behavior
At DYPDSS, we set high expectations for student behavior to ensure a respectful and engaging learning experience:
- Respect for Others: Students are expected to show respect for peers, teachers, staff, and school property.
- Responsibility in Learning: Each student must come to class prepared and ready to learn, with assignments completed on schedule.
- Punctuality and Attendance: Regular, on-time attendance is essential to academic success. Students are encouraged to arrive promptly for all classes.
- Dress Code Compliance: All students must adhere to the school’s dress code.
- Appropriate Campus Conduct: Avoid off-limit areas, such as the parking lot and basement, and refrain from bringing non-educational items, including electronic devices, onto campus.
Recognizing and Encouraging Exemplary Behavior
DYPDSS believes in acknowledging and celebrating positive behavior. Students who consistently demonstrate strong ethics and responsibility are recognized in the school newsletter, on school boards, and in school assemblies.
Consequences for Misconduct
To maintain a positive school environment, disciplinary measures are in place for students who do not follow the Code of Conduct:
- Warning Cards: Up to two warning cards will be issued for unacceptable behavior.
- Parental Involvement: After two warnings, parents will be invited to discuss their child’s behavior.
- Suspension: A third infraction may result in a one-week suspension.
Resolving Concerns: Complaint Procedure
DYPDSS is dedicated to open communication and encourages parents to raise concerns. For a prompt resolution:
- Discuss Minor Issues with the Class Teacher: Minor issues can often be resolved at the classroom level.
- Escalate if Necessary: If unresolved, the concern can be brought to the coordinator, then to the Vice-Principal, and finally to the Principal.
