The Importance of Celebrating Festivals in Schools

D Y Patil Dnyanshanti School

India is a country with many festivals and diverse religions. Each and every festival is celebrated with enthusiasm. Festivals add color to our lives and bring joy. They also have a lot to offer. People come together and strengthen the community. The enjoyment of festivals is greater among children than among adults. Festivals and celebrations offer children the opportunity to learn more about their culture and country. The process teaches them about their roots around the world and makes them feel proud of their country and tradition. Celebrations provide an opportunity for individuals to get involved in extracurricular activities, build bonds, and interact socially. Celebration of festivals at school with friends is more fun, encouraging cultural and social awareness apart from textbooks. It solidifies the bonds between peers and brings the students and faculty close together, establishing a sense of community.

This is why, at DY Patil, celebrating festivals is an integral part of learning and building a strong cultural belief and developing respect and understanding for each other’s customs and traditions. Some of the days celebrated in our schools are Guru Purnima, Ashadhi Ekadashi, Independence Day, Republic Day, etc. Students participate in various activities like singing, dancing, plays, skits, etc. Each and every performance given by children is extremely creative and unique in its own way.

It helps to boost confidence and courage on stage. We desire to establish an effective education system that is built on moral values. D.Y. Patil encourages students to embrace other cultures and traditions. This allows the child to open up and gives them a suitable platform to work toward becoming responsible citizens.
